The gastronomy of Australia has numerous exotic dishes based on meat of crocodile, kangaroo, crustaceans, and it is influenced by English traditions as the English people were the first Europeans settling down in Australia.

During the 20th influences of the Mediterranean and also Asian cuisine started to become a relevant element in the Australian gastronomy.

Breakfast varies depending on the region. In the warmer regions breakfast is usually light, consisting in toast, cereals and fruits. In colder regions it is quite similar to the English breakfast, consisting in egg, baked beans and sausages.

Besides the excellent wines the most popular and consumed beverage is beer.
