This landlocked country is one of the coldest, warmest and windiest countries in the world, but one of the richest regarding natural resources. In the northern part and in the eastern part Bolivia borders on Brazil, in the southern part on Argentina and Paraguay, and in the western part on Chile and Peru. Bolivia is one of the most diverse countries of the world; we find almost all climates and many ecological areas are represented.
Bolivia is the eighth largest country of South America, with more than 1 million km2 and with a population of 10.027.644 inhabitants according to the census 2008. The population density per km2 is 8,5 inhabitants, one of the lowest of South America. It is a country with big ethnic diversity: Amerindians, Creoles, and Afro-Americans ("afrobolivianos"). Nowadays these groups are mixed in the contemporary Bolivia. Due to this impressive cultural diversity different languages have been declared as official languages: Spanish, Quechuan (of Inca origin), Aymara (previous to the Inca civilization), Guarani and some other 33 original languages.
