Canada's gastronomy

The gastronomy in Canada is a combination of all the cultures specialities of each area with influences of the gastronomy of the first settlers together with the influence of colonist's communities that mainly came from England. In English Canada the traditional cuisine is similar to the American cuisine while in Quebec is based on the French one; but in both cases it varies from region to region.

Both, base on fresh ingredients and includes baked foods and wild game.

One of the most widespread gastronomy is the Chinese cuisine and it is present throughout the country besides the fast food or also known as American food.

Some of the traditional dishes are:

Roast beef, roast turkey, beans and toast and wild. Also seafood is a main ingredient, specially salmon, atlantic cod and lobster.

It is very difficult to define an unique typically Canadian dish as it depends on the region. As mentioned before it varies from region to region so we can define for British Columbia the salmon and wild rice, for Quebec it is very typical the creme caramel and the onion soup.
