The gastronomy of Denmark is rich in varieties of juicy meats and tasty fishes and it is quite similar to Swedish and German gastronomy.
Due to its agricultural tradition, an important ingredient of the Danish cuisine are the vegetables which are popular for its high quality and are exported to several countries.
Among different main ingredients the potato is one of the main elements in Denmark's dishes besides the cabbage. Meat dishes are usually made of duck, goose and pork. Fish dishes are mainly prepared with herring, which are cooked in different ways.
A specialty are the cold buffets with traditional cooked "Frikadeller", consisting of a kind of meatballs with egg and slices of black bread accompanied by salads.
