The Sognefjord is the second longest in the world and there are the tallest waterfalls of Norway. All cities in Norway are of great interest for their architecture and environmental surroundings. The home of the Sami, aborigines of Norway, in the northern area of the country visitors can observe the amazing northern lights and midnight sun, specially in Finnmark with its sea cliff the "North Cape" and five national parks of pine forests and where impressive glaciers of the country are located. The largest town in Finnmark is Alta known also for rock carvings that have been protected by the UNESCO. Tromsø is one of the best places for fishing trouts. There are uncountable lakes and an ideal place to experience the spectacular midnight sun, when the never ending summer takes place and the sun stays up for more than two months.
In South Norway, known for its rocky coastline, we find Telemark with its impressive canal, surrounded by mountains. A trip through the Telemark Canal offers visitors a constantly changing and impressive landscape, as it goes from the coast to the mountain. Sorlandet is known for its beautiful coast and villages and an ideal place to experience Norwegian coastal life.
Oslo, the capital of Norway, located in the east of the country is surrounded by hills and forests. One of the highlights in Oslo is the Vigelandsparken, a park with more than 190 bronze and granite sculptures and a particularly popular place for Norwegians to have picnic in summer time and strolls in winter.
Also in the east part of the country, visitors will find The Jotunheimen Mountains where the highest mountain in Scandinavia is placed, the Galdhopiggen is a favourite area for Norwegians during the summer time.
