Paraguay is a landlocked country in South America and has borders to Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil and occupies a territory of 400,000 km2 with a population of approximately of 7 millions inhabitants.
Due to its location the scenery of Paraguay offers mainly intensely wooded and natural areas such as the "Alto Chaco" and savannas in the region of the "Bajo Chaco". The most densely populated areas are the western regions of the country, while the rest of the country is covered by a extraordinary natural scenery where some of aboriginal tribes still live cultivating ancestral traditions. Paraguay is the ideal place to enjoy nature far away from crowded areas. The climate is subtropical with fast changes in temperature throughout the year. Summers are usually very hot and winters use to be quite mild with only few cold days. From December to March, summer time in Paraguay, the heaviest rainfalls are registered.
The population of Paraguay is a mixture between the aborigine people of the country, the Guaraní, and Creoles from the Spanish colonization era. Paraguay has two official languages, the Guaraní and Spanish. The Guaraní is spoken today by about 2 million people. In the last centuries Paraguay is experiencing a big immigration from Europeans and also Brazilians.
