Sweden is located in north Europe in the Scandinavian Peninsula and has borders to the west with Norway and to the northeast with Finland and the Bridge Öresund connects the country with Denmark.
Its territory occupies an extension of 450,000 km2 with a population of 9.2 million inhabitants, most of them concentrated in the south of the country in urban areas.
The scenery of Sweden is characteristic for its long coast line, with deep forests in the northern part and in the south with areas that are predominantly agricultural.
Although of its location temperatures throughout the year are mild with three main climate types:
The milder temperatures are registered in the southern part of Sweden, where summers are warm and winters predominantly cold, with temperatures ranging in summer from 20 to 25 ºC and in winter reaching below freezing ranging from -4 to 2 ºC. The coldest period is from September to May. The northern part has shorter and cooler summers, while winters are colder.
The official language is Swedish, one of the Germanic languages similar to the Norwegian or Danish. Also Finn is spoken by a minority of the population besides the Sami.
Swedish people are known for being open minded and friendly, and almost everybody speaks English.
