Places to visit in Nepal

The country with a high diversity of sceneries, with high mountains and deep valleys and jungles is one of the preferred destinations of ecological tourism. Every year the country experiences an increase of visitors, attracted by the beauty of its landscapes and simplicity of its people. It is also one of the countries with the best trekking trails in the world.

"The Sagarmatha National Park" with an area of 1,148 km2 is home of the highest peak of the world, the Mount Everest, for many one of the highlights to visit during the trip to Nepal. Specially a favourite destination for trekkers. The park is covered by a large extension of forests, providing shelter for about 120 species of birds and wildlife such as the Himalayan black bear.

"Katmandu" capital of the country, is for many the starting point in Nepal and one of the best places to start to experience the culture, history and friendly people. For getting in touch with Hindus life and traditions a recommended place is the "Pashupatinath Temple", located about 4 km from the capital, a holy place for Hindus. Just 32 km far away, east of Katamandu, visitors can have a walk through "Nagarkot", with incredible views of the Katmandu valley and the majestic "Himalayan Mountain range".

In "Patan", the oldest city in the Kathmandu valley, is an ideal destination in Nepal to know architecture, arts and crafts of traditional and historical value. A high spiritual place is "Lumbini", with a serene environment and peaceful atmosphere, to experience calmness and its cultural heritage.

The National Park "Royal Chitwan National Park" is the first national park in Nepal and is one of the most impressive natural environment in South Asia, which was declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. It is located in the Chitwan Valley and has an extension of 932 km2, home to many different species, about 43 species of mammals and a special area for the protection of endangered one-horned rhinoceros, crocodiles, tigers and many others.
